Arcane is a self-taught artist who spent his formative years traveling the U.S. and residing in rural locales. This gave him a unique perspective of the differing cultures within our own borders and a keen understanding of the natural world that society and technology are constantly encroaching upon.
His work ranges from illustrations, paintings, screen printing, and stenciling to sculpture and electronic music. It could best be described as a surreal mixture of nature, technology and magic. He has a vinyl toy line in the works and will be releasing his first album, under his own label, sometime later this year.
As an ongoing side project, his conservation efforts for old world chameleons, over the last ten years, have resulted in the production of thousands of animals and (at least in part) the removal of Furcifer Pardalis (the panther chameleon) from the C.I.T.E.S list of threatened species in Madagascar.
Some of his other inspirations have included science fiction, hitchhiking, psychedelics, world cultures and religions. His deep respect for the creative mind of Aaron Oliver will be celebrated in the first of, hopefully, many collaborative shows in the near future.
